Madagascar, the fourth largest island in the world provides a unique
fascination for nature lovers.
When Madagascar split with mainland Africa 65 million years ago it isolated the flora and fauna creating a wildlife that is almost 80% endemic.
With 23 species of Lemur, Chameleons, butterflies, insects, spiders and a very small number of birds, most of which are endemic it is not surprising that Madagascar is fast becoming a popular
destination.
Because Madagascar has such a varied geography the climate varies considerably. With an average temperature of 81 degrees, the highlands have been recorded as having frost and even snow. The east coast of the island has almost non stop rain throughout the year and and the extreme south west of the island has a semi-desert climate.
