"Welcome to Jordan"! The favorite phrase of the Jordanian people to visiting tourists.

This is not a hollow saying it is said from the heart. The Jordanian people are amongst the friendliest people on earth. Visitors are made welcome at every hotel, bar and cafe they visit. Walking the streets of Amman you will be greeted with a smile from everyone you pass by.

An incredibly proud people with a real love of their country and their heritage which is rich in antiquity, from the stunning handiwork of Nabataean stonemasons to the historic biblical characters to Lawrence of Arabia.

A land of Biblical sites, lost cities, desert forts and crusader castles, Jordan is a truly magical destination offering a whole host of adventures and Biblical tours.

Along with the tourist sites you can also take in the sheer beauty of the country. The scenery is stunning and the light quality is a photographers dream. Take a trip to the Dead Sea and simply float in the dense water or partake of the ''healing'' properties of the rich mud deposits. Experience the underwater sea life of the Red Sea. Snorkle or scuba diving, including lessons, are easily available and it has been said that the reefs of the Red Sea are better than those around Australia. Access to the reefs of the Red Sea are easy and there is no need to take a boat out to them. You can swim straight from the shore, no more than 10 meters, to experience the wonderful sealife.

We have included details of our ''Taste of Jordan'' itinerary which gives you a real insight into the country and visits some of the major places of interest but if you are looking for something out of the ordinary then please contact us. We work with the premier adventure operator in Jordan and have listed in brief some of the other options that we can offer.

The Bedouin

Bedouins are nomadic people that came to this area more than 3000 years ago. Originally from the south of Arabia, we immigrated to this land in search of water and agricultural opportunities. Ours is a culture rich in history, habits and fun. We’ve grown up in the embrace of nature, taught our children how to live off the land and remain proud of all we have to offer. Today, we are people desperately trying to preserve our past, while being hurled towards the 21st century.

The footsteps of many civilizations across our land have created a special atmosphere. From the Neolithic era to present, we have seen Edomites, Nabateans, Romans, Crusaders and Ottomans, just to name a few. This, combines with an extraordinary landscape, provides a fabulous backdrop for an exciting adventure, one that we are sure you will never forget.

The word Bedu comes from the Arabic word, Badawi, meaning "a dweller of the desert". The Bedouin endure the desert and have learned to survive its unforgiving climate. They treat it with due reverence, knowing that the wilderness has no respect for fools. There are few societies whose existence is as harmonious as that of the Bedouin. They walk a tight line between life and death, balancing with tenacity and skill. They understand their herds of goats and camels, forging a symbolic relationship with them so that each depends upon the other for survival. The herds rely on their masters for protection and their masters depend on their herds for milk, meat and skins. The clan is at the center of Bedouin society. Each family has its own tent, a collection of which (known as hayy), constitutes a qawn, or clan. A number of these clans make up a tribe (a qabilah). People living in the same clan are considered to be of the same blood. There is no lengths to which a man will not go to safeguard another.

The Bedouin are seen as a fearless people who, although basically peace-loving, will engage in a blood feud if necessary. There is a sense of honor and pride in Bedouin hospitality. They will give to a stranger even though it might leave them in need. The word Asabiyah refers to the Bedouin clan''s soul and spirit. With it comes unwavering allegiance to the group through which the community can survive.
